Fashion week is definitely a great opportunity to show off your street style. This is an event full of cameras, editors and the latest fashion stars and it can be you who sets the latest trend. So the question is, how can you get those cameras to face you, those editors to write about you and how can you become the face of the latest trends? So here's How to Dress for Fashion Week:
1. Keep it Casual
It can be easy to think that you need to be wearing the most glamorous pieces to fit into the
crowd when in reality, most attendees are keeping it simple. Leave the dazzling elements to the models and the shows themselves and instead of trying to dress for the runway, dress for the streets because this, is essentially what editors and cameras are looking for. Remember, you can still dress high profile and with class without having to spend a fortune on each item you're wearing. Keep it casual, keep it cool and most importantly, keep it you.
2. Stay Edgy
If you're a person who likes to add extra thrill to an outfit to stand out from the crowd - don't be afraid to do so. A leather jacket always adds an edge to an outfit. Even experiment with some studs and combat boots or potentially a skirt and some thigh high boots to add to the look. It's all about piecing together elements that fit well together and to experiment; have fun with your outfits!
3. Accessorize
Some may believe that accessories are not that important when it comes to an outfit. Although accessories may be small accents that can sometimes be overlooked, they help detail your outfit and can give unlimited opportunities to open up what you're wearing to so many different styles. They also help with defining your personal style. Hats, Jewelry and even clutches can help complete your look so go ahead and try out different pieces to see the miracles they do for an outfit.
4. Alternate the Latest Trends
Fashion is always evolving and there is no doubt trends walk in and out by the minute. The media always has an eye on people who know what's in trend currently but to catch their attention - try to come up with your own alternatives and twist those trends to fit with your own style. There are thousands of people who attend these Fashion Weeks and most know these trends far too well so to keep away from the 'boring' zone, try to come up with your own take of these trends.
5. Look at Seasonal Tones
Last but not least, dress for the season. The season that these Fashion Weeks take place does play a big role into what outfit you pick. Those that take place within Autumn and Winter will usually go for more warm tones and neutral colours whilst in Spring and Summer, pastels and patterned materials come into scene. Play around with colour palettes and use seasonal tones to your advantage.
